Project in Brief : The existing building of 13m X 50m housed a C-N-C machine shop on ground floor and an office on mezzanine floor. The existing structure had a provision of one more floor only. There was a need of additional office space of 1000 sqm. or more. Hence the possibility of extending the existing building by two more floors was examined.
And it was made possible by using light weight Siporex blocks, in place of bricks, for side cladding and light weight Siporex slab panels, in place of conventional RCC slab. By using light weight material addition of one more floor was made possible, without any extra load on foundations or columns.
Access to upper two floors is through a glass cladded lift cum staircase block.
